The Great Inventor 

Kito's Uncle Juma was an inventor. He invented strange and wonderful things. One hot afternoon after school, Kito, Jay and Hari went to see Uncle Juma. On the way, they stopped to play football. 

'It's too hot to play football,' said Kito.

'I need a drink to cool me down,' said Hari.

'I haven't got any water, but try this,' said Jay.

Jay took a small fan from his pocket. 

'It will cool you down,' he said.

Hari and Kito tried the fan.

'This is fun,' laughed Hari.

'Yes, but it's too small,' said Kito. 'It's not cooling me down.'

Just then, there was a loud noise. 

'What was that?' cried Jay.

'It came from Uncle Juma's shed,' shouted Kito.

Uncle Juma came out of his shed. He was covered in dust.

'What happened, Uncle Juma?' cried Kito.

'I was trying to make a Jumbo Clean Machine.'

'And ...?' said Kito.

'... and Boom!' said Uncle Juma. 

'Now I've got to do some cleaning.'

Jay and Hari went home. Kito helped Uncle Juma tidy up.

'Why are you an inventor, Uncle?' Kito asked.

'I like making machines,' replied Uncle Juma. 'I collect old things and make them into something new. Now, I must water these poor plants. They need a drink. Where have I put my watering can?'

Splosh! Something wet hit Kito on the head.

'It's up there,' he said, pointing to the shed roof.

Kito had an idea.

'A watering can!' he said. 'Now all I need is a fan.'

'There's an old fan in the shed,' said Uncle Juma.

Kito got to work.

The next day, Jay and Hari wanted to play football again.

'Sorry,' said Kito, 'I'm busy.'

'What are you doing?' asked Jay.

'It's a secret,' replied Kito.

BAM, CRASH, BANG

Kito went to Uncle Juma's shed every day after school.

Jay and Hari went to the shed to see what Kito was doing. They could hear banging but they couldn't see anything.

The next day, Kito went to find his friends after school.

'Let's play football!' he said.

Hari sighed. 

'It's too hot for football.' 

Kito smiled. 

'I can fix that!' he said. Come with me. I have something to show you.'

'Do you like my Kid Cooler Machine?' Kito asked.

'The fan and the watering can gave me an idea.'

'It's fantastic, Kito! Now we can play football all day!' said Hari.

'Let's test it!' said Jay.

Uncle Juma smiled proudly. 'One day, you will be a great inventor.'

'Just like Uncle Juma,' said Hari. 'Much better than me!' laughed Uncle Juma.
