What We Do When...
Two lots of 12 hours make up a day.
Daytime and night-time are words that we say.
Usually people are up in the day.
They don't need the light on for school, work or play.
You don't want a torch at the beach or the park.
At night-time you sleep. You're tired when it's dark.
But babies don't know if it's night or it's day.
They wake and they cry till they get their own way.
Get up before 8, have a wash or a shower.
Breakfast's the meal that you have at this hour.
School before 9, and we go all the way
until lunchtime at 12 o'clock, noon or mid-day.
On clocks with faces that go by themselves,
the long and the short hands are pointing to 12.
The 12 on a clock face is right at the top
and 12 is the hour when all mornings stop.
On a digital clock, the morning is done
at 12:00 noon. Then it's 12:01.
And then after noon, it becomes afternoon!
1 o'clock, 2 o'clock - home time is soon.
4 o'clock, 5 o'clock, dinner or tea,
by 8 o'clock, bed is a good place to be.
Asleep when it's midnight, that's 12 o'clock, too!
Asleep - so it isn't so special for you.
The hours speed by - going 1, 2, 3, 4,
5 o'clock, 6 o'clock, 7 and more!
It's time to wake up after resting your brain.
Then you start all the time-telling over again!
It's time to get up and get ready for school,
unless it's the weekend or holidays - cool!
